Complete variations, not isolated flash cards
Training moves through consecutive repertoire positions and asks for the correct response in the current piece arrangement. This builds memory for relationships between moves instead of only the first moves of an opening.
Three ways to practise
Calm mode leaves time to study the position. Challenge adds score and time pressure, while Death Match samples positions from inside variations to test recognition without replaying every line from move one.
Hints are measured assistance
A piece or move hint helps you return to the line but remains visible in the session summary. This separates independent recall from completing a variation with assistance and makes the next training goal clearer.
How to work on an opening
- Choose a repertoire and variation whose positions you understand but cannot yet reproduce reliably.
- Begin in Calm mode and name the plan, structural change, or opponent threat before every move.
- Use Challenge or Death Match only after completing the line correctly to test recognition speed.
Free training without an account
The public library offers 10 free repertoires, five for each colour, with 200 variations. PL/EN theory and annotations are available without sign-in at /en/free-openings. Demo results remain in the current session; a personal repertoire and saved progress require an account.
