Choose the right set of games first
Opponent, time-control, result, and date filters separate different problems. A losing streak in blitz may require a different response from mistakes that repeatedly appear in slower rapid games.
A report should lead to action
A monthly summary is useful when it identifies a few themes for the next session: a concrete opening line, a missed pattern, failure to convert an advantage, or an ending that needs repetition.
Open a game on the analysis board
Sample games include PGN data and open in Board Lab. There you can replay every move, stop before the mistake, form your own evaluation, and only then start Stockfish.
From a game list to the next training task
- Select the month and time control that correspond to the question you want to investigate.
- Compare recurring results and open a representative game instead of analysing the complete archive without a goal.
- Record one conclusion, one position to review, and one exercise for the next session.
